After a visit to the pediatrician for what I thought was an allergic reaction which ended up being baby acne, Lucy had her first and hopefully last visit to the children's heart cardiologist. The pediatrician said she had a "galloping" sound to her heart and it was probably no big deal but she needed to get it checked out anyway. I believe the way the doctor said it was " it's probably nothing BUT" which of course I'm sure my faced turned white because I'm almost positive my heart stopped when she said that phrase. She told us she had another baby patient with the same thing and she sent the baby to get tested and it turned out to be nothing but she had to find out to make sure. And of course she told us "not to worry" and as soon as she left the tears escaped my eyes and I couldn't help but start to worry. After I left I immediately called my 2 moms (chris and my mom) to get some advice and a pep talk. I felt better after they both said that if it was really a problem they would have sent her to get tested right away but the doctor said it could be a couple of weeks until they could get her scheduled since she had to go to Peyton Manning Children Hospital. Last Wednesday she made her first and hopefully last visit to the hospital to meet with the children's heart cardiologist. He listened to her heart and did some tests on her. She weighed in at 10 lbs 9 1/2 ounces and measured at 23 1/4 inches!! Our little girl sure is growing up...sad face. The cardiologist told us, in his thick accent, that she has a turd heart beat. I said what does she have? He said a TURD heart beat....ohhh he means third heartbeat! I couldn't understand him but nonetheless she's ok and will be ok! This extra heartbeat is normal for her and she'll outgrow it and there's no need for a follow up appointment. Needless to say, we were ecstatic to hear that Lucy is a healthy little baby girl.
