What I wish I had known

I was the first one of my close friends to get married and one of the close ones to have a baby. Recently, it seems, that there has been a baby boom amongst my closest friends. Whether they are pregnant or going through the trials of figuring out what their newborn wants...I'm constantly getting emails or text messages for advice. So if I happened to ever have to go through it again, I hope I look back on this blog post.

1. Buy panty liners. Trust. You will need for the majority of your pregnancy.

2. Generic brands are just as good as the name brand. I love Target and could spend thousands of hours there. I have found that Target formula, diapers, & toddler food is all the same except when it comes to price. When Lucy grew out of Pampers Swaddlers we had to make a decision on what to do. We tried out a small box of Target diapers to make sure she wasn't allergic and when she wasn't we never looked back. It's amazing how much cheaper they are!

3. Breast is not always best or does it work out for everyone. It didn't work out for me and at first was heartbroken until I realized it was a blessing in disguise. Not only was Jeremy able to help with feedings but I was able to consume as much caffeine to help with the new sleep or lack of sleep routine. And as far as breastfed children are the healthiest-simply not true. Trust me I've witnessed firsthand at daycare. I'm not against breastfeeding, but it's not all it's cracked up to be :)

4. Just because you had a baby doesn't mean you won't look pregnant when you leave the hospital. I managed to lose almost all of it until I went back to work but we won't talk about that.

5. Mylicon is a baby and mommy's best friend. What is it? A bottle of heaven that treats gas on infants. After feeding, burping, changing a diaper, etc I learned that it usually is gas. With a drop of mylicon, can't overdose on it, and bicycle legs it usually did the trick.

5. Friendships will be tested and will change. You will find out who will stick with you during the post partum mood swings and new schedule.

6-10. Enjoy every single day and milestone. Before you know it, your baby will be 14 months.

There are much more but Ill have to just write them as I remember or think of them.
