Introducing Piper Lorene!

On May 18th-I was officially full term/37 weeks. I went to work as usual and it appeared I was "nesting" at work because I was trying to get everything done and made a to-do list of everything I needed to get done in my final week before maternity leave. I consequently did a lot of walking around the office. I had constant pressure but nothing more then I had the week prior. I had plans to meet my friends for dinner and after work had some time to spare. I went to the mall to walk around to look for something to wear for my maternity pictures that were on Sunday. I didn't want to get them done but since it was out last pregnancy, I decided to go through with them. I walked for an hour or so and met my friends for a long dinner. I got home around 945 and was in Ed by 10:15. I wanted to watched tv but figured I should try to get some sleep. Around 11:30 I woke up to feeling a small gush of liquid and chalked it up to being discharge. I then felt another small gush. I figured I probably should get up to change my underwear and go pee. While trying to change my underwear there was another gush. My immediate feeling was that this was annoying. I am tired and want to sleep but my gut instinct was that It was my water. I had heard before that if you wear a pad and it is soaked in an hour then its probably your water so I thought id try that. My next thought was this is probably my water so I woke up Jer and told him. I then called the on call doctor and he told me to go to the hospital for me to be checked. Immediately, I felt overwhelmed with emotion because I am a planner and this wasn't part of it. I was supposed to have the c/s on May 29th after my bags were packed, house in order, and Lucy at Jaime's! It was midnight and I didn't know what to do, but called one of Lucy's godmothers, Lindsay. She called me back and of course was ok with us leaving Lucy there. I packed a bag pretty quick and sort of was in denial so it wasn't packed very well. After we dropped Lucy off I was filled with emotion because my gut said this was it and I wasn't ready emotionally, physically, or mentally. One thing I was in control over was who drove so I drove myself! When we got to L & D, they checked to see if it was my water. The test takes 10 min and they told me within 2 min they were for sure it was amniotic fluid. We were adamant that dr brazus was called even though she wasn't on call. They called and she came. I was having contractions and dilated from barely a 1 to a 4 in about 2 hours so I was definitely in labor. I failed to mention that one of the calls we made was to one of my best friends, Denise, who had planned to do the birth pics. Since this wasn't planned I didn't know if she would eve be awake but she was! Once we told her it was go time-she packed her camera and came to the hospital. At 3:10am Piper Lorene was born. I don't remember all the details bc the morphine didn't settle well with me and caused me to shake the entire time. I do remember hearing her first cry and was relieved when they told me she was healthy. She was beautiful. After being in recovery for longer then expected due to bad clotting-we finally got settled into our room where we stayed for 3 days. Jer went home
Everyday to either get something, feed the cats, shower, or water the flowers. The 3 days felt like forever and I was for sure they were going to make me stay an extra day bc the doctor knows I won't rest at home but she let me go. We had great nurses and of course a fantastic doctor! Here is the slideshow of pictures that Denise made which is simply beautiful...
