After 3 hours of pushing and a c-section delivery, Lucille Madison Sorg finally has made her arrival. While the labor was painful and intense, we both couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome. Without telling you every detail about my labor experience, it went something like this: Sunday night I got a dose of cervadil that softens the cervix. I already had gone into the hospital having contractions 2-3 min apart and 2 cm dilated and 60 % effaced. If I weren't induced, I sure wasn't going to make it very much longer. The cervadil made my contractions go to 60-90 sec apart and I had to get a shot to slow down the contractions. On Monday morning, I had made some progress and my doctor broke my water. From then on I dilated all the way to 10 cm on my own. Well at 9 cm they gave me pitocin to try to get to that last cm a little faster. I did get an epidural at 4 cms. The back contractions were terrible. My doctor was very surprised that I dilated all the way to 10. It took all of Monday to do it but it was better then having a c-section...so we thought. I started pushing at 10 cm and the epidural had began to wear off and the anestiologist was in a c-section and wouldnt be able to come for at least 30-45 minutes. It seriously felt like forever and I have never felt pain like that in my life. The doctor came in after I pushed for 2 hours and was determined Lucy was going to come out so she got her scrubs, tools, etc together and did everything possible. She tried to use the vacum but because Lucy had so much hair it popped off. After 3 hours and full of complete exhaustion-Lucy was not going to fit down my canal. I was prepped for the c-section and off we went. Jeremy was in the room with me and stayed in a seat next to my head. The c-section wasn't terribly painful, just really strange. I felt tugging and pressure but that was it. Skipping the rest of the details, Lucy had her cord around her neck and everyone was surprised that her heart rate didn't drop on the monitor. We are very blessed to have such a healthy little girl.
